Before the Session
Before the photo session, it is important to think about what your "Expressive Child" is going to wear. Does your child have a favorite color? Favorite hat? Favorite toy? Anything that you find particularly special to your child will usually play out well in a photo session. I once had a parent bring a big sprinkled donut for their child to eat during the session. The colors popped and the child was happily "expressive!”
During the Session
So you made it to the shoot location, great! Now that we have all met each other, it's time to shoot. Typically, toddlers like to play on the playground or even run around a park chasing ducks. I like to sit off to the side and capture your child in action in their most natural and expressive state. However, I often see elements at a location that we can incorporate in a session and I will redirect the action to add some diversity to your photos. A lot of what happens during a shoot is spontaneous, which results in the most candid shots. After all, it’s the moments that are not "pre-planned" that truly capture your Expressive Child.
