Ex·pres·sive [ikˈspresiv]
Effectively conveying thought or feeling

Expression is beauty, happiness, sadness, anger, surprise, confusion - with no one expression the same. Expression is spontaneous, offering a fleeting glimpse at an innate human reaction to an emotional trigger. There's no better expression than that conveyed by a child. A child’s expression fixates. Whether shown through a facial expression or body language, photographing a child in their most natural state imprints expression and leaves a lifetime impression.

My name is Brian Rose and as a father, former TV news photojournalist and self-professed visual story teller, I’ve become fascinated with documenting my son’s every moment with camera in hand. I’ve combined my passion for photography with my favorite subject (my son), and I want to share this passion with parents who believe it is important to capture unique memories.

As we age we become too aware of the camera, uncomfortable with being the center of attention. Children are completely candid and can show the most raw, genuine expressions. My photography style is not about staged photos or still portraits. It’s about capturing children in the present … that’s Expressive Child.
